EPDM flooring: how to install EPDM runway flooring
EPDM surfaces are a common runway option, offering durability, safety and flexibility. Here is an easy guide to installing EPDM track surfaces.
1. Prepare the base surface
Clean and level: Use asphalt or cement concrete to ensure that the foundation has adequate strength and stability. Make sure the surface is flat, dry and free of dirt and cracks.
2. Installation of EPDM granules
Mixing and Spreading: Mix EPDM granules with glue and spread evenly on the prepared foundation surface. Small areas can be paved by hand, while machine paver is recommended for large areas.
3. Scribing and Maintenance
Marking: After curing the surface, add runway marking.
Maintenance: Regularly clean and repair the runway to ensure its long-term stable performance.
